Announcing the return of the Florence Knoll™ Model 31 Lounge Chair and Model 33 Sofa, two classic designs that speak in a contemporary voice. With their tubular steel bases and thoughtfully scaled cushions, these pedigreed pieces have a light visual footprint and offer a supportive sit. Florence Knoll knew the importance of comfort and pursued it with the exacting perfectionism that gave her work its trademark precision and crisp appeal.

Florence Knoll archival reissues — Inspirations

Trained as an architect, Florence Knoll introduced modern notions of efficiency, space planning, and comprehensive design to the interiors she created. She had a holistic understanding of how everything within a space affects the human experience and paid special attention to scale and proportion in her furniture designs. In 1941 she met Hans Knoll and the pair—armed with Florence’s design skills and Hans’ salesmanship—grew a budding company into an international arbiter of design.

The rectilinear cushions of the Model 31 and Model 33 lend themselves easily to different types of upholstery, thanks to their uncomplicated construction and streamlined shape. They’re offered in a range of options, from colorful weaves to durable leathers and vinyl, all with the high-quality craftsmanship, timeless aesthetics, and historical significance for which Knoll is known.

Florence Knoll Collection — Moodboards

Since 1938, Knoll has remained true to the Bauhaus philosophy of “total architecture,” where furniture complements architectural space to create a harmonious design. This comprehensive approach began with Florence Knoll, who didn’t want to merely decorate space—she wanted to create it. Today the Knoll portfolio includes classic and contemporary pieces that work together to create a complete experience of the interior setting.
